It opened in 1983 as Le Meridien Singapore, with the French department store Printemps in the podium. The building has a three-level retail podium with 98 strata shops and a 407-room hotel on levels 4 to 9. The land is held on a 99-year lease from 17 August 1979, and the site covers about 99,600 sq ft.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003Cp>The hotel is run by HPL Hotels and Resorts, the hotel arm of Hotel Properties Limited (HPL). Redevelopment is planned. HPL, which already held 95.4% of the property through subsidiaries, moved to buy the whole strata development in a collective sale at about $821 million. The Strata Titles Board approved the sale, as reported in June 2025. The approved scheme is a mixed-use project with 40% hotel, 40% residential and 20% commercial space on a fresh 99-year lease. The hotel was still listed in HPL's portfolio at the end of 2025.
