District 6 is the smallest district in this directory — 16 developments around City Hall, High Street and the Singapore River — and almost all of them are commercial.
The smallest district, and the most commercial
D06 is barely a kilometre across. It covers the Civic District, High Street, the north bank of the Singapore River and the Beach Road edge of City Hall, and almost everything in it is a shopping centre, an office block, or both. There is very little housing: the residential listings here are recent river-front additions such as CanningHill Piers, built on the old Liang Court site.
The rest is retail and offices, several of them long-standing strata developments: Peninsula Plaza and the adjoining Peninsula Shopping Complex, High Street Centre, The Adelphi, Capitol Piazza and Funan. Strata retail of this kind — hundreds of small shop units each separately owned — is one of the harder things to manage in Singapore, because every decision about the common property has to carry a very large and very divided group of subsidiary proprietors.

Who manages them
D06 is small enough that no agent holds more than a couple of buildings, and several of its complexes are run by a management company set up for that building alone rather than by a third-party agent — the Peninsula complexes are the clearest example. Where that is the case, the name in the Managing Agent row is effectively the building's own office.
Reaching the office
A strata shopping centre's management office is usually on an upper floor or in the basement near the loading bay, and keeps office hours rather than mall hours. For a tenancy, renovation or access matter you want the building manager; for a lost item or a car park issue, the centre's own counter is faster.
