Letting out and home businesses · Can wait
Can I rent out my condo on Airbnb for a week?
General guidance for homes in Singapore. In a condo or other strata building, common property is for the management office; in an HDB flat, your Town Council.
No. In any private home in Singapore, stays must be at least three consecutive months. Shorter lets are illegal, with fines starting at up to $5,000.
Check first
- Is the stay under three consecutive months? Then it is not allowed, whatever the platform.
- Are you renting out the whole unit or a room? The three-month floor applies either way.
- If you rent, does your tenancy even allow subletting?
What you can try
- Rent for three months or longer, with a proper tenancy agreement.
- Point short-stay guests to hotels or serviced apartments instead.
- If you suspect a neighbouring unit is running short stays, note the pattern and tell management. Management corporations can pass information to URA.
When to stop and get help
- Anyone advises you to disguise short stays as something else. Repeat operators have been prosecuted in court.
Who to contact
- Management office — To report suspected short-term letting in the building.
- URA — The authority for the rule, via its feedback channel.
