Choose a dry route

PUB advises avoiding flooded areas and moving to higher ground if water is rising. Do not walk into a flooded entrance, driveway or car park to see how deep it is. A familiar route can conceal drains or changed ground conditions. Use an alternative route and follow barriers or instructions.

Keep away from wet electrical equipment

PUB warns against touching switches or appliances while wet or standing in water. Do not enter a flooded plant room, basement or lift lobby to operate equipment. Management and trained responders must assess shared systems. Any action on your own supply must be possible from a safe dry position; do not approach an unsafe switch.

Use official alerts

Follow PUB flood alerts and myENV, then confirm access arrangements with management. Ask which entrance remains usable, whether lifts or car-park access are restricted and where updates will appear. These are questions to ask, not services every estate can promise.

If your vehicle is affected

Avoid driving into floodwater. PUB advises against restarting a vehicle stalled by rising water; use hazard lights, call for assistance and move to higher ground where safe. Do not enter a flooded basement to retrieve a car or other possessions.

Make a factual report

From a safe position, give management the location, time, affected access and whether water is rising. A photograph can help, but do not move closer for it or assign a cause from appearance. Follow incident-specific instructions. For immediate danger or a medical emergency, seek emergency help rather than waiting for a routine management reply. After water recedes, keep damaged electrical equipment out of use until assessed; a dry-looking entrance does not establish that all shared systems are ready.
