About Citylights

Citylights is a 600-unit condominium at 80 to 90 Jellicoe Road, beside Lavender MRT station in District 8 (Little India / Farrer Park). It was developed by CapitaLand through Woodsvale Land Pte Ltd on a 99-year leasehold site, with tenure running from 5 January 2004. CapitaLand launched the project on 4 December 2004, releasing 168 units in the first phase. EdgeProp records completion in 2007.

The development is made up of tall towers, described by the developer as 42 storeys high, and they are easy to pick out on the Lavender skyline. Homes range from one-bedroom units of about 560 square feet to penthouses of around 3,600 square feet. Most units were designed with full-height windows to take in views towards the city and the Kallang Basin.

Interesting facts

  • A row of pre-war Art Deco shophouses on the site was conserved and turned into 10 heritage townhouses of roughly 3,000 to 3,500 square feet, an unusual housing type inside a high-rise condominium.

  • A recreation sky terrace on the 24th floor doubles as a link bridge between three of the towers. It was planned with fitness areas, a jacuzzi and reading and yoga corners.

  • Jellicoe Road belongs to a group of streets around Jalan Besar named after British military figures of the First World War, alongside Kitchener Road and Allenby Road.

  • Lavender Street, a block away, was named in 1858. The name was reportedly a joke by residents about the smell from the nearby gasworks and nightsoil-fertilised farms.

Lavender MRT (East West Line) is next door, about 2 minutes' walk. Bendemeer MRT (Downtown Line) is around 8 to 10 minutes away and Nicoll Highway and Kallang stations are further out. Jalan Besar Stadium and the People's Association headquarters are close, as is the Kallang Riverside park connector. North Bridge Road Market and Food Centre and the eateries of Jalan Besar and Kampong Glam are within walking distance. Stamford Primary School on Victoria Lane is the nearest primary school.
