The area flooded often in the 1960s and 1970s. An old flood level gauge on Cambridge Road survives as a reminder.
Pek Kio Community Centre opened in 1954 and moved into a new building in 1984.
Cambridge Primary School served the estate from 1963 until it closed in 1998.

Farrer Park MRT (North East Line) is about ten minutes' walk. Novena MRT (North South Line) is further away, on the other side of the Central Expressway. Pek Kio Market and Food Centre at 41A Cambridge Road is the neighbourhood hawker centre. United Square and the Goldhill shops are in the Novena direction. Farrer Park Primary School is the nearest primary school.
