76 Shenton is a 202-unit residential tower at 76 Shenton Way, in Singapore's postal District 2. It was developed by Hong Leong House Pte Ltd, part of the Hong Leong group, and designed by DP Architects. The tower was completed in 2014 on a 99-year lease that runs from April 2007. It rises about 158 m, and sources give either 39 or 40 storeys. The site covers about 3,046 sq m and the building has a gross floor area of about 17,060 sq m.

The development is one of a small number of purely residential towers on Shenton Way, a street better known for banks and office blocks. It replaced an office building, and is often cited as an early example of office sites in the southern CBD being turned over to homes. Many units face the port and the sea. Facilities include a swimming pool and gym.

Interesting facts

  • The site was previously occupied by the Ong Building, an office block. Some building databases still list that name as an alternative for 76 Shenton Way.

  • All 202 units were reported sold by March 2010, well before completion.

  • The Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat records the tower at 158.2 m, built entirely in reinforced concrete.

  • Shenton Way itself dates from 1951. It was laid out on the Telok Ayer reclamation and named after Sir Shenton Thomas, a former Governor of Singapore.
