About Afro-Asia i-Mark (formerly Afro Asia Building)

Afro-Asia i-Mark is a 19-storey office building at 63 Robinson Road, at the junction with McCallum Street in Singapore's central business district (District 1). It replaced the original Afro Asia Building, which was built in 1955 and demolished in 2017. The new tower was developed by the family company behind Afro-Asia Shipping together with Japan's Shimizu Corporation, which was also the builder. Architects 61 was the design architect. Reports at the time put the net lettable area at about 140,000 sq ft and the project cost at around $320 million. Completion was scheduled for 2020.

  • The original Afro Asia Building stood for 62 years, from 1955 to 2017.

  • The old building once housed the head office of the Chinese-language newspaper Nanyang Siang Pau, with a printing press on its second and third levels.

  • Co-working operator The Great Room was announced in October 2019 as anchor tenant, taking about 37,000 sq ft on three floors, roughly a quarter of the lettable space.

  • Published features of the new tower include a lobby about 10 m high, chilled-beam air-conditioning, an automated mechanical car park and end-of-trip facilities for cyclists.

Tanjong Pagar MRT (East-West Line) is about three minutes' walk. Shenton Way MRT (Thomson-East Coast Line) and Telok Ayer MRT (Downtown Line) are each around five to seven minutes away. Tokio Marine Centre is next door on McCallum Street, and Capital Tower, Robinson 77 and V on Shenton are close by. For food, Amoy Street Food Centre and Lau Pa Sat are both within a ten-minute walk. The Telok Ayer conservation area, with Thian Hock Keng temple and Telok Ayer Green, lies just to the north.
