Borden Company was incorporated in 1960 to take over the business of J Lea and Co, a Singapore trading house, along with the Eagle Brand trademark.
According to the company, Eagle Brand Medicated Oil was first formulated in 1935 by the German firm Wilhelm Hauffmann and Co. The green oil is a familiar household remedy across Southeast Asia.
The company states that it makes about 10 million bottles of medicated oil a year in a GMP-certified Singapore plant and exports to more than 30 countries.
Kilang is Malay for factory or mill. Jalan Kilang, literally factory road, is the spine of the small estate, with Jalan Kilang Barat (west) and Jalan Kilang Timor (east) branching from it.
