Interesting facts
The hotel stands on the site of Coleman House, the home that architect George Drumgoole Coleman completed for himself in May 1829. The house was demolished in 1965 to make way for the hotel.
Coleman Street itself is named after the same architect, who became Singapore's first Superintendent of Public Works.
The land lease dates from March 1828, less than a decade after modern Singapore was founded.
