About Sherwood Towers

Sherwood Towers is the residential part of the Bukit Timah Plaza development at Jalan Anak Bukit in District 21. Its 269 apartments are arranged in two blocks above a four-storey shopping podium, with direct access to the mall and car park below. The development sits on a 99-year lease from August 1976; the mall opened in 1978 and the apartments were completed around 1979-80. Property portals name Ocean & Capital Properties as the developer, in a venture linked to Keppel Land.

Homes range from about 786 to 1,830 sq ft, and residents' facilities include swimming and wading pools, a barbecue area, a playground and covered parking with 24-hour security.

  • CBRE describes the development as one of Singapore's first comprehensive mixed-use projects outside the city centre.

  • The site was formerly the Lam Choon rubber factory.

  • Bukit Timah Plaza has hosted a run of well-known retailers: Metro and Fitzpatrick's at its 1978 opening, Japanese department store Yaohan from 1981 to 1996, and since 1997 a large NTUC FairPrice, now a 24-hour FairPrice Finest.

  • The original proposal provided parking for more than 700 cars, generous even by today's standards. In 2023 Keppel offered the entire strata-titled car park, with 427 car lots, for sale.

  • Owners of the mall and the apartments began exploring a collective sale in late 2022. No tender has been reported, and shop units continue to change hands individually.

Beauty World MRT (Downtown Line) is about 420 metres away, a five to six minute walk, with King Albert Park MRT about 600 metres in the other direction. Bukit Timah Plaza is directly downstairs. Beauty World Centre, with its rooftop food centre, Bukit Timah Shopping Centre and the Cheong Chin Nam Road food street are all around ten minutes on foot. The Rail Corridor passes about 200 metres from the estate, and Bukit Timah Nature Reserve is a little over a kilometre away. Pei Hwa Presbyterian Primary School and Methodist Girls' School are reported to be within one kilometre, and Ngee Ann Polytechnic is nearby.
