The Cosmopolitan is a freehold condominium at 200 and 202 Kim Seng Road in District 9 (Orchard, River Valley). Interesting facts

  • The towers stand on the site of Times House, the former home of The Straits Times. Times House was built in the 1960s and demolished in April 2004.

  • Wheelock Properties bought the Times House site for about $118.8 million, according to the National Library Board.

  • Kim Seng Road is named after Tan Kim Seng, a Peranakan merchant and philanthropist who helped pay for the road. In 1857 he also gave $130,000 towards improving the town's water supply.

  • Great World mall, directly across the road, occupies the grounds of the old Great World Amusement Park.

  • Kim Seng Bridge, a short walk south, is the most westerly of the nine bridges over the Singapore River.

Nearby

Great World station on the Thomson-East Coast Line is about 5 minutes on foot and links to Great World mall, which has a supermarket, cinema and food court. Orchard and Somerset stations (North-South Line) are roughly 900 metres away, about 12 to 15 minutes. Zion Riverside Food Centre is a short walk across Kim Seng Bridge. The Singapore River promenade runs east towards Robertson Quay. River Valley Primary School is about 450 metres away.
