  • The Laurels is a close neighbour of 42 Cairnhill Road, the Tan Chin Tuan Mansion. NLB Infopedia dates that house to the 1920s. It was restored in 2007 as part of a small condominium and won an Architectural Heritage Award in 2008.

  • Further up the same road, 28 two-storey terrace houses at numbers 68 to 124, and nine more at 128 to 128H, were given conservation status in 1989. They are in Late Shophouse and Art Deco styles.

  • The former Anglo-Chinese School building on Cairnhill, designed by Swan and Maclaren and used by the school from 1928, reopened in 1992 as the Cairnhill Arts Centre.

Paragon, The Heeren, Mandarin Gallery and 313@somerset are all within a short walk, as are Mount Elizabeth Hospital and Al-Falah Mosque on Bideford Road. The Emerald Hill conservation area, with its Peranakan terrace houses, is just to the east. Newton Food Centre is the nearest hawker centre, to the north.
