About Wallich Residence

Wallich Residence is a 181-unit condominium at 3 Wallich Street in postal District 2 (Anson, Tanjong Pagar). It occupies the upper part of the 290-metre Guoco Tower, the tallest building in Singapore, and was completed in 2016 to 2017 as part of GuocoLand's Tanjong Pagar Centre project. The apartments begin at around level 40, roughly 190 metres above the street, which is higher than the roof of most residential towers in the city. Below them are Grade A offices, and the same development includes shops, the Sofitel Singapore City Centre hotel and a large public park. Residents have their own entrance on Wallich Street, separate from the office lobby at 1 Wallich Street.

Interesting facts

  • The penthouse spans the top three levels of the tower. At about 290 metres, it was described at launch as the highest home in Singapore.

  • The tower rises 10 metres above the usual 280-metre height limit that applies to buildings in the central area.

  • The land was sold by government tender in 2010 for $1.708 billion, and the whole development was valued at about $3.2 billion on completion.

  • The street shares its name with Nathaniel Wallich, the Danish botanist who came to Singapore in 1822 at Raffles' request to plan its first botanical garden. Mount Wallich, a hill that once stood in this area, was also named after him.

Tanjong Pagar MRT station (East-West Line) is in the basement of the development. Maxwell MRT (Thomson-East Coast Line) is about seven minutes' walk and Outram Park interchange about ten. The conserved shophouses of Tanjong Pagar Road, Duxton Hill and Craig Road start across the street. Maxwell Food Centre and Tanjong Pagar Plaza Market and Food Centre are close, as are Duxton Plain Park and The Pinnacle@Duxton. Cantonment Primary School is the nearest primary school.
