Marine Parade

Marine Parade — 222 developments inside URA’s Marine Parade planning area, which takes in Katong, Tanjong Katong and Mountbatten as well as the HDB estate on reclaimed land, each listed with its management office contact.

Turtle point and the first estate on reclaimed land

Tanjong katong is Malay for “turtle point”, the cape that marked the eastern edge of the 1819 settlement. By 1941 the seafront was lined with the mansions, hotels and clubs of wealthy Straits Chinese, European and Jewish families, and Marine Parade was a promenade with private houses along the beach.

Reclamation began here in 1966, with earth from the levelled hills of Bedok and Siglap. Marine Parade became the first housing estate built entirely on reclaimed land: HDB balloted the first flats in 1974 and completed 57 blocks by 1976, and in 1992 it was the first estate to undergo the Main Upgrading Programme. Tanjong Katong was designated a conserved area in 2003.

What the planning area covers

Its subzones are East Coast, Katong, Marina East, Marine Parade and Mountbatten. Joo Chiat, across the road, is in Geylang; the neighbourhood around East Coast Road has its own Katong page.

New launches

  • Tembusu Grand — CDL and MCL Land, 638 units on Jalan Tembusu, on sale from April 2023.
  • Grand Dunman — SingHaiyi and CSC Land, 1,008 units on Dunman Road, launched in July 2023.
  • Meyer Blue — UOL and Singapore Land Group, 226 freehold units, launched in October 2024.
  • Emerald of Katong — Sim Lian Group, 846 units on Jalan Tembusu, launched in November 2024.
  • Amber House — Far East Organization, 105 freehold units at 30 Amber Gardens, launched in June 2025.

Getting around

The Thomson–East Coast Line opened four stations here on 23 June 2024: Katong Park, Tanjong Katong, Marine Parade and Marine Terrace.

Schools with pages here include Tanjong Katong Primary, Tao Nan School and Ngee Ann Primary.

Who manages the buildings here

Ocean IFM (10), Newman SRE (10), Chambers Property Management Services (8) manage the most developments inside the boundary. About a third of the developments here have no managing agent on record — many are small blocks run by their own council. Each building page lists its own office contact.
