Ahmad Ibrahim Primary School: heritage, leadership and sustainability

Ahmad Ibrahim Primary School opened in 1995 with 23 classes. Many of its first students and staff came from Sembawang School, which had closed the previous November. The new school was named after Ahmad Ibrahim, who served as Member of Parliament for Sembawang and held the Health and Labour portfolios.

The school’s development has included several changes to its learning environment. Following the completion of its PRIME upgrading project in 2002, it began operating in a single session in 2003. Further upgrading, including an indoor sports hall, was completed in 2018.

Character development and service are recurring themes in the school’s history. Its Learning for Life Programme, introduced in 2014, connects values with community involvement and student leadership. In 2016, the school introduced an Applied Learning Programme centred on sustainability, encouraging pupils to understand environmental issues and conserve resources through their everyday choices.
