Yishun — 43 developments inside URA’s Yishun planning area, from the condominiums around Yishun and Khatib stations to the landed estates of Springleaf, each listed with its management office contact.
Nee Soon’s town
Yishun is the hanyu pinyin of Nee Soon, after Lim Nee Soon. The land was once the territory of the Orang Seletar, then gambier and pepper country before the rubber and pineapple estates; in 1930 the colonial government renamed the village of Jia Chui Kang “Nee Soon Village”.
The Yishun New Town project began in 1976, with building from 1977. The bus interchange opened on 23 August 1987, Yishun and Khatib stations in 1989, and Khoo Teck Puat Hospital at Yishun Central in 2010.
What the planning area covers
Its nine subzones are Khatib, Lower Seletar, Nee Soon, Northland, Springleaf, Yishun Central, Yishun East, Yishun South and Yishun West. Nee Soon subzone reaches down to Upper Thomson Road, so Springleaf station and the new condominiums beside it are in Yishun, not Ang Mo Kio.
