Renovation approvals and rules

Ask your management office

• What do I need to submit before renovating?
• Is there a renovation deposit, and how much?
• What are the renovation hours?
• Can I do minor works, like painting, without approval?
• Can I install window grilles or a balcony screen?
• Can I change my main door, windows or awning?
• Can I change or modify my main door? I heard it's a fire-rated door.
• A contractor damaged the lift or corridor.
• My neighbour's renovation is very noisy, or starts too early.

Moving in or out

Ask your management office

• Where can the moving truck park?
• Can I have furniture or appliances delivered, and when?
• How do I get fibre broadband or a new point installed?
• Where do parcels go if I'm not home?

Disposal and recycling

• How do I get rid of a mattress or sofa in a condo?Ask your management office first, since many estates have a bulky-item arrangement with their waste collector. Otherwise NEA's route for private estates is the estate's public waste collector, for a fee, or any licensed collector.
• Where do I throw away old electronics, batteries and light bulbs?Not in the rubbish chute. Singapore has a national e-waste scheme: bins at malls and community centres take small items, and large appliances are collected from your doorstep free of charge.
